SHIFT: Day, Evening, and possibly an occasional Saturday | Based upon the needs of the college

LOCATION: Lakeshore Technical College - Cleveland, Wisconsin

POSITION SUMMARY: Faculty in this position demonstrate proficiency in the use of EMS tools, equipment, and terminology. This position requires faculty to provide preceptor training at remote clinical sites and manage student's clinical experiences. Faculty actively contribute to maintaining the Paramedic program accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.

Educate students with core knowledge and current developments in the discipline. Provide regular curriculum and course improvement with continually updated teaching methods. Participate in subject or program leadership teams and college-wide committees. Work effectively in a team-based environment. Seek opportunities for continuous professional development.

Provide high quality customer service throughout all interactions. This includes but is not limited to: work effectively and positively with people from all backgrounds; help the customer find solutions; anticipate needs, and follow-up with the customer. Provide friendly, respectful, personalized experiences throughout every interaction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Other duties may be assigned) :

(100%) Instruction
• Provide instruction on campus, off campus at area services, off campus at remote shared sites, and at remote clinical sites.
• Maintain classrooms, labs, mobile labs, and equipment storage areas.
• Repair or refer damaged equipment for repair.
• Ensure student safety in laboratory and scenario-based training exercises.
• Provide recommendations on equipment purchases, and source quotes.
• Meet with area EMS employers to collaborate on needs and possible educational gaps.
• Maintain professional certifications and licenses.
• Create effective relationships with acute and long-term care partners for the purpose of establishing long term clinical sites.
• Ensure the safety of students in potentially hazardous work environments through safe working practices and proper use of equipment.

Instruction/Manage the Learning Environment
• Curriculum: Integrate learning theories and models into curriculum design. Update curriculum appropriately in curriculum design repository system and the college learning management system according to the college schedule and guidelines.
• Delivery: Facilitate learning, utilizing a variety of delivery modes and learning theories. Encourage engagement of students while maintaining a safe, inclusive, and functioning environment.
• Assessment: Evaluate student learning based on course competencies and program outcomes, employing formative and summative assessments. Provide constructive and timely feedback Retain records through the college information system according to program requirements.
• Support Dual Credit and Credit for Prior Learning activities.
• There may be operational needs requiring substitutions of alternative duties and/or the creation of flexible delivery (e.g., CBE, iFlex) in courses.

Enhance Student Success
• Modify teaching and learning based upon feedback and assessment results to improve student success.
• Create an inclusive and equitable learning environment designed to address student needs and partner with accommodation or other support services to provide reasonable accommodations, when appropriate.
• Advise students in ways that foster the development of the whole student, and encourages persistence and timely completion of a course, certificate, diploma, or degree.
• Assess the effectiveness of a course and/or program and take necessary steps to enhance outcomes.

Pursue Professional Development
• Participate in initial and ongoing required professional development. This includes, but is not limited to, college-wide meetings, on-site professional development days, Wisconsin Technical College System Faculty Quality Assurance System FQAS courses, etc.
• Develop and update annual goals as documented in the employee performance review.
• Maintain required industry certifications and/or licensures.

Participate in Planning or College Advancement
• Participate in division, department, and program meetings to improve program health.
• Provide input into hiring, mentoring, and succession planning.
• Participate in college advancement initiatives, including college-wide teams, advisory committees, and/or statewide teams.
• Contribute to the design, implementation, and reporting of grants.
• Support the College accreditation process.
• Participate in program planning, development, and modification.

Outreach
• Participate in outreach, recruitment, and community events as determined by college leadership.
• Collaborate with Workforce Solutions on scoping business and industry needs.

Other
• Activities required to maintain program accreditation unless part of coordinator duties.
• Grant writing and reporting activities may be required.
• Activities required to maintain competency, partnerships, and mutual services within external/offsite location.
• Oversee and coordinate operations at external sites and satellite locations that maintain campus standards.

SUPERVISORY SKILLS: None

TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:
• Be familiar with basic hardware; use a laptop, printer, and scanning techniques equipment.
• Securely access college network systems using appropriate multi-factor authentication, navigate through Windows; and appropriate navigation through the internet.
• Use voicemail, email, and calendaring programs.
• Understand database concepts and use queries; create a basic spreadsheet; create simple charts and graphs; develop materials using presentation software; manage and create files.
• Use video conferencing.
• Utilize PeopleSoft appropriately.
• Use electronic timesheet.
• Use Blackboard and associated tools.
• Utilize classroom technologies necessary for instruction (e.g., Interactive Whiteboard, SmartBoard, Projectors, Document Camera, and Lecture Capture equipment).
• Manage laptop carts.
• Use Worldwide Instructional Design System (WIDS) for curriculum development and access to course/syllabi information.

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Teaching experience desired.
• Experience with computer assisted instruction and software.
• Working knowledge of PC software in a Windows environment.
• Experience desired in delivering instruction by alternative methods such as instructional television or online.
• Possess excellent classroom delivery skills, which encourages success and participation on the part of students.
• Must be innovative and able to collaborate with other staff in developing curriculum for classroom instruction.
• Must be well motivated and have a strong interest in contributing to the success of the college.
• Positive human relations and effective written and oral communication skills essential.
• Exemplify college values in all staff and student interactions as well as services delivered.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and relate successfully with staff, students, and people of diverse cultural, social or educational backgrounds.
• Fluent, bilingual individual is beneficial.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor's degree in Emergency Services, Education, or a related area is required ~OR~ an Associate degree in an Emergency Services discipline. If no Bachelor's degree, individual hired will be required to enroll in an accredited bachelor degree program in a related discipline and to complete the degree within 5 years of employment. Master's degree in a related discipline is preferred.
• Applicant must have a minimum of two years (4000 hours) of experience specific to program needs at the time of hire (recent experience preferred).

All instructors are required to meet and maintain Higher Learning Commission (HLC) requirements, Faculty Quality Assurance Standards (FQAS), and/or other job specific licensing standards.

Per subject area taught, instructors are required to possess the appropriate credential.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURE, REGISTRATION:
• NREMT Paramedic certification.
• WI DHS Paramedic license.
• WI DHS EMS Instructor I required at time of hire, will need WI DHS EMS Instructor II license within 60 days.
• Valid State of Wisconsin driver's license is required.

• MVR CHECK Required - The employee in this position is a potential operator of a Lakeshore Technical College owned vehicle or may be responsible for driving any other motor vehicles on behalf of the College.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
• The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
• The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Work environment may require multi-tasking.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

CONDITION(S) OF EMPLOYMENT:• Employment conditional on completion of a Background Information Disclosure (BID ) and a Motor Vehicle Record Check with the results acceptable to the College.
• Valid State of Wisconsin driver's license is required .
• Must me et and maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System (FQAS) requirements within 3 years of employment.
