PROGRAM & POSITION OVERVIEW

The High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program[1] seeks to reduce the production, smuggling, distribution, and use of illegal drugs adversely affecting the United States. In furtherance of this, Northwest HIDTA promotes collaboration by and between federal, state, local, and tribal agencies to identify and address established priorities. The approach to reducing the drug threat — and its harmful effects — is diverse and achieved, in part, through operational law enforcement efforts, intelligence gathering and sharing, prevention and treatment programs, and education and training initiatives.

Northwest HIDTA seeks a versatile and motivated candidate to assume the role of information technology assistant in support of Northwest HIDTA’s initiatives.

The information technology assistant will support the information technology systems administrator & technician with:

  • Developing, installing, and maintaining the Northwest HIDTA computer network, related systems, and the daily on-site operation thereof     
  • Supporting other hardware and software used internally and externally
  • Offering expert guidance and support to Northwest HIDTA staff and affiliates regarding the procurement, use, maintenance, and control of the highly specialized hardware and software

This position is that of an independent contractor.  Continued employment is at the discretion of Northwest HIDTA, evaluated yearly, and contingent on government grant funding.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the information technology administrator the assistant will:

  • Oversee installation and maintenance of commonly used electronic and/or telecommunication equipment, by contracted vendors, and ensure work performed and products provided meet requirements
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and guidance concerning equipment and technology procurement and inventory thereof
  • Conduct audits, inspections, preventive maintenance and repairs to ensure optimum performance of electronics, systems and equipment
  • Perform other duties as directed by competent authority


Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must qualify for, and maintain, a National Security Clearance at the secret level
  • Minimum 3 years of information technology experience in systems support
  • Bachelor of Science Degree
  • Knowledge of telecommunication technologies, system capabilities and equipment operation characteristics
  • Proven track record supporting information technology projects in a complex, diverse, and challenging business environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must be a United States citizen
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree
  • Understanding of application development technologies using cloud-based, client/server, web-enabled and distributed applications

APPOINTMENT

  • The position is federally funded, however, the selected candidate will be a contract employee
  • Relocation expenses will not be provided
