What is Outset?
Outset (joinoutset.com) is a pre-college academic camp hosted at leading colleges and universities for teens interested in healthcare and medical careers. Outset is designed to help high school students explore what it takes to become a doctor and what the career is really like.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of the Assistant Director (AD) vary by campus, but in general your role is to help the Camp Director with anything and everything required to provide our teens with an amazing camp experience. This may include:
- Managing our camp counselors (college students)
- Managing camper medications
- Manage various aspects of the schedule, sessions, and activities
Locations
We operate camps at various college campuses, including: UNC-Chapel Hill, Columbia, Vanderbilt, UCLA, and U Michigan. We are hiring assistant directors at all campuses. You must be able to move to your preferred campus during the summer months and live in the dorms with our other staff and participants.
Dates & Working hours:
We operate camp in June & July for 4-8 sessions (weeks). Our west coast camps may operate into early August. We expect ADs to start working full-time one-week prior to the camp start date for training and we may have a few hours of additional work to do before you start full-time that would be paid. While summer camps are running, ADs will be working and on-call from 11:00am on Sundays to 5:00pm on Fridays. During camp you will have at least one evening off each week.
