- Clinical Training Program Manager

Thurston County is seeking a dynamic Medic One Program Manager to lead curriculum development, ensure high-quality training, oversee staff and budgets, and drive innovative community outreach. This role offers the unique opportunity to shape the future of EMS through collaboration, continuous improvement, and direct engagement—making a lasting impact for both responders and residents across our region.
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develops and approves curriculum, training objectives, and instructional strategies for EMS programs.
- Sets training goals in collaboration with stakeholders and ensures compliance with legal requirements.
- Investigates patient care complaints, conducts quality assurance reviews, and researches new protocols and techniques.
- Collaborates with agencies and programs to address the training needs of the Thurston County Medic One system.
- Coordinates with Washington State Department of Health for protocol and program approvals.
- Gathers and analyzes data to support EMS initiatives and improvements.
- Hires, trains, and manages Medic One Training Coordinators, supporting certification and record-keeping.
- Manages the training program budget and maintains equipment inventory, recommending updates as needed.
Engages with the community through public education, presentations, outreach events, and representing the system on various committees.
Requirements
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work Environment –
o Primarily office environment, classrooms, fire stations, and other areas as required
o This position is required to maintain their EMS certification. This will require occasional work in a clinical setting (both in-hospital and in the field).
Schedule –
o Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Workload demands may require work outside the assigned work hours. EMT training, CPR training, and paramedic training may require work afterhours and/or on weekends.
Travel Requirements -
o This position requires frequent travel between Thurston County Medic One and EMS/Fire agencies, to incident sites, to community events, and to training locations to ensure effective coordination and administration.
o This position is required to independently transporting equipment, supplies, and documents necessary for operational continuity and high-quality service delivery.
o This position may be called upon to respond rapidly during emergencies, requiring reliable, immediate access to a vehicle to support emergency response and field operations
Customer Interactions –
o Daily interactions via phone, in-person, and video with Thurston County staff and the public.
