Description
The Healthcare Supervisor is responsible for implementing health and well-being standards for the camp population and facilities in a residential camp setting and supervising the Healthcare Assistant.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize, set up, and operate the Health Center.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for campers and staff.
- Collect, store, and administer medications to campers and staff.
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment at the Health Center.
- Create and stock First Aid Kits for high-traffic areas of camp, camp vehicles, and off-site trips.
- Conduct a general health inspection of cabins, unit areas, showers, and bathrooms to identify possible unsanitary or unhealthy conditions.
- Complete a health screening of all campers and staff upon arrival, departure, and during the summer.
- Review health services and emergency procedures with staff and campers.
- Communicate with camper families and physicians, as needed.
- Prepare a summary and evaluation of healthcare services provided during camp.
- Assist in the execution of the GSHPA crisis management plan for emergencies that may occur during camp at any time, day or night.
- Abide by GSHPA code of conduct, rules, and expectations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Current license as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required.
- Demonstrated experience working with children and young adults.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Attend and complete pre-camp trainings.
- Ability to live and work in the outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
- Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards, in various lighting conditions.
- Ability to quickly respond to emergencies 24/7 when on camp property and follow GSHPA established emergency procedures.
- Ability to walk over uneven terrain.
- Ability to adapt well to changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.
- Ability to work with diverse populations in a group setting.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Must pass required background checks.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
