Description
The Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Pittsburgh invites applicants for the position of full-time 12-month Visiting Faculty position to provide physical therapy services to student athletes at the University of Pittsburgh and assist teaching within the University of Pittsburgh Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. The Department of Physical Therapy, housed within the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, is ranked number 8 in the US News and World Report and offers both an entry-level Residential and Hybrid DPT program option. This position serves as the University of Pittsburgh Sports Physical Therapy Division 1 program.The Department of Physical Therapy has an established relationship with the Athletics Department with supporting a faculty member to work directly with the football team on a daily basis. We are looking for a person who can take full advantage of our established relationship and expand it as a member of the sports medicine team.
Specifically, this position would provide physical therapy services to the University of Pittsburgh's Football, Men's and Women's Soccer, Baseball, Softball, and Women's Lacrosse teams. The individual will also assist the athletic training staff in the daily medical management of student athletes, as well as with practice/game coverage.
The individual will also support teaching activities within the Department of Physical Therapy's Residential and Hybrid Doctor of Physical Therapy programs. Specifically, assisting in lab activities for the residential Anatomy, Kinesiology, and Musculoskeletal curriculum, and Advanced Therapeutic Exercise classes, as well as assist during immersions for the hybrid program. The individual will also have the opportunity to directly lecture in the aforementioned classes.
Requirements for the position include:
• Licensed as a physical therapist or eligible for licensure in Pennsylvania
• Current license as an EMT, and/or current certification as an Emergency Medical Responder
• Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree
• Possess Board Certification in Sports or Orthopaedic Physical Therapy
