Clinical Simulation Specialist
Miami Dade College – Medical Campus
Position Overview:
The Clinical Simulation Specialist is a student-centered professional who plays a vital role in advancing clinical education through innovative, evidence-based simulation experiences. This position collaborates closely with academic departments and faculty to design, implement, and evaluate realistic human patient simulation scenarios that strengthen students’ diagnostic reasoning, clinical judgment, and critical thinking skills.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct pre- and post-simulation activities, including moulage setup and removal, scenario execution, and technical support
Partner with faculty to enhance student learning, assessment, and performance through guided debriefing and feedback
Identify, prepare, and manage all supplies and equipment needed for simulation-based clinical experiences
Provide orientation and hands-on training for students in the use of medical equipment (e.g., ventilators, IV pumps, feeding pumps)
Support the Nursing curriculum, including simulation-based clinical hours representing up to 50% of required clinical time
Create, adapt, and modify evidence-based simulation scenarios and case studies aligned with program learning objectives
Stay current with emerging medical and simulation technologies and best practices
Oversee and enforce simulation lab rules, procedures, and safety standards
Participate in professional development, networking, and continuing education related to healthcare simulation
Engage in simulation research activities, including study implementation and data collection
Requirements
Master’s degree in a healthcare field and one (1) year of related experience OR
Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare field and three (3) years of related experience
Current certification/licensure as one of the following: Registered Nurse (RN), EMS/Paramedic, Radiology Technician,Physician Assistant, Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator
Degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong knowledge of medical equipment, supplies, and operational procedures
Proficiency with multimedia systems, computers, and simulation technology
Working knowledge of OSHA, ACHA, and HIPAA guidelines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to instruct and support students, faculty, and staff in clinical skills and simulation activities
Strong troubleshooting skills for human patient simulators and medical equipment
Ability to guide and train staff in effective simulator usage
Clinical expertise to adapt scenarios on demand to meet learning needs
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse, multi-ethnic, and multicultural academic environment
