Nestled between two great lakes, the Niagara region consists of some of Canada's most fertile agricultural land, the majesty of Niagara Falls and a dozen communities that are rich in both history and recreational opportunities. The 1,900 square kilometers which form the peninsula contain dynamic modern cities, Canada's most developed wine country, a temperate climate, extraordinary theatre and some of Ontario's most breathtaking countryside. It's no wonder the region attracts 14 million visitors annually as well as a steady stream of new residents and businesses. With over 3000 employees, Niagara Region is responsible for such diverse areas as land use planning; transportation; water and wastewater treatment; waste collection and management; emergency medical services; public health; children's services and seniors programs to name a few.
