CareFlite
Company Overview
CareFlite, a 501(c)3 not for profit, operates an integrated system of helicopter EMS, fixed wing air ambulance, 911/EMS, interfacility ground ambulance, wheelchair vans, a Medic bicycle team, a Medic Mounted Team, and standby medical services at sports and community events. CareFlite provides extensive, state of the art training including the University of Maryland Critical Care Paramedic Course at its Mabee EMS Training Center. CareFlite is CAMTS accredited. It is sponsored by Baylor Healthcare, JPS Health Network, Methodist Health System, Parkland Health and Hospital and Texas Health Resources (Harris Methodist and Presbyterian Hospitals). CareFlite operates 27 air and ground bases across North Texas.
Company History
Founded in 1979, CareFlite is America's oldest, joint use air medical program. Ground ambulance service was added in 1980. Since its founding, CareFlite has transported over 600,000 patients. First accredited by CAMTS in 1995, CareFlite is sponsored by Baylor Healthcare, JPS Health Network, Methodist Health System, Parkland Health and Hospital, and Texas Health Network (Harris Methodist and Presbyterian Hospitals). CareFlite is a 501(c)3 not for profit. It's headquarters have been located at the Grand Prairie Municipal Airport since 1989.
Notable Accomplishments / Recognition
CAMTS Accredited. Over 600,000 patients transported. Over 100,000 members of Caring-Heart Program. State of the art EMS training provided at Mabee EMS Training Center. Co-sponsors Great First Responder Awards Program with DFW Hospital Council. Offers annual Emergency Care Update Conference during EMS Week. First ECU Conference held in 1983. Winner of EMS Safety Foundation Award for ground safety leadership.
