Charleston County Emergency Medical Services (CCEMS) delivers essential medical care and emergency transportation to hospital emergency departments, serving both residents and visitors of Charleston County, South Carolina. As a progressive, county-operated department, CCEMS offers growth opportunities and serves as the sole 9-1-1 EMS provider for the region. Covering approximately 1,200 square miles, we respond to more than 65,000 service calls annually.

Company History

Charleston County EMS (CCEMS) proudly celebrates its anniversary on November 2nd, marking the day in 1973 when the first six employees were hired to form the department. This milestone was the culmination of a vision to replace police “crash wagons” with a formal EMS agency, a concept championed by several influential figures.

Since its inception, Charleston County EMS has remained at the forefront of pre-hospital medicine. The dedication of our team, combined with the trust and support of our community, empowers us to continuously adapt and innovate.
