From its humble beginnings, Remote Medical International® (RMI) now operates globally as a multimillion dollar company providing customers with medical support services for remote environments worldwide. We have been recognized six times by Inc. 5000 as one of the fastest growing companies in the United States. Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, USA, we currently have 200+ employees globally.

Company History

2003
Remote Medicine, Inc. is incorporated in Washington State and focuses on providing training, medical equipment, and supplies.

2004
The Remote Medicine, Inc. office relocates to a small warehouse in West Seattle.

2005
Remote Medicine, Inc., becomes Remote Medical International and begins to independently host remote medicine training courses. To make room for increased inventory and a growing staff, we expand to a larger office, effectively doubling in size.

2006
We receive a pharmacy license and move to our current headquarters in Seattle’s Interbay neighborhood. In April, we obtain our first international medical support contract for a project in Greenland.

2007
After one year of curriculum design, Remote Medical International offers its first Remote Medicine for the Advanced Provider™ (RMAP) course for Advanced Life Support (ALS) providers who are interested in working professionally in remote settings.

2008
We obtain our first General Services Administration (GSA) contract and graduate over 1,000 students in various training courses.

2009
Inc. 500 ranks Remote Medical International #147 among the 500 fastest growing companies in the United States.

2010
We launch our medical evacuation and repatriation program and performs our first medical evacuation and makes the Inc. 5000 list again, ranked at #263.

2011
Seattle Met ranks Remote Medical International in the top ten Best Places to Work and Play in Seattle and Inc. 5000 includes the company in their ranking for a third time.

2013
Remote Medical International receives an $8M investment from Seattle-based Columbia Pacific Management and establishes a partnership with subsidiary Columbia Asia, who operates over twenty-eight hospitals in Asia Pacific. RMI also launches RMI Topside Assistance program, integrates the Global Coordination Center (GCC), and creates RMI Kits, which are specifically designed by, and for, medical professionals operating in remote environments. We subsequently open an office and warehouse in Nairobi, Kenya, and incorporates Remote Medical International Kenya, Limited.

2014
Inc. 5000 ranks Remote Medical International as one of the fastest growing companies in the United States for the fourth time.

2015
Remote Medical International names Wayne Wager as CEO and is awarded a $95 million contract to provide HIV rapid test kits to USAID and opens federal office in Washington, D.C. Additionally, we receive the Editor’s Choice Award for best first aid kit from Overland Journal and are included for the fifth time in the Inc. 5000 list, earning an “Honor Roll” distinction.

2016
Remote Medical International acquires the ability to offer hybrid online and onsite medical training programs and makes the Inc. 5000 list for the sixth time. We also begin to offer training courses specific to global travelers and tactical professionals around the world.

2018
Remote Medical International acquires HSE Offshore, adding expanded capabilities in offshore medical and safety as well as a new base of operations in the UK.
